The Jets outlasted the Patriots, 34-31, in overtime on Thursday night to take sole possession of first place in the AFC East for the time-being. New York appeared to have the game wrapped up late in the fourth quarter, but Matt Cassel led New England down field and connected with Randy Moss with one second left on the clock to force overtime. Cassel was terrific, going 30-for-51 with 400 yards and three touchdowns, but Brett Favre and the Jets were just a tad better. Favre went 26-for-33 with 258 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Thomas Jones ran for 104 yards and a score in the win. New York led 24-13 at the half, but New England rallied to score eleven-straight to tie the score with a little more than ten minutes left in regulation. At the 3:10 mark of the fourth, Jones rushed 1-yard to give the Jets a 31-24 lead momentarily. Cassel charged the Pats down field, 62 yards in 63 seconds, connecting with Moss on a 16-yard strike at the corner of the end zone that sent the game in overtime. New York won the toss, and after a key third down completion, won the game on a 34-yard field goal by Jay Feely.
