Although the prognosis isn't as dire as originally anticipated, the Dallas Cowboys will still be without Patrick Crayton for at least 6-8 weeks after the No. 3 wideout underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove particles from his injured right ankle. Coach Bill Parcells feared that Crayton, who emerged this season as a key contributor in the passing game and on punt returns, had broken the ankle in Sunday's overtime victory against the New York Giants. Instead, tests revealed a lateral ligament sprain, and some debris floating in the ankle. There is still a possibility that Crayton, who has 18 receptions for 272 yards and who has averaged 7.8 yards on punt returns, could miss the rest of the season. But the Cowboys are holding out hope he can return late in the year.
