The Texans officially have named Alex Gibbs as their Assistant Head Coach/Offense and promoted Kyle Shanahan to Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach. Gibbs joins the Texans following a three-year stint (2004-06) with the Atlanta Falcons. He served as the assistant head coach/offensive line in 2004 then was a consultant to Head Coach Jim Mora from 2005-06. A veteran of 23 NFL seasons, Gibbs is viewed as one of the best position coaches in NFL history. With Gibbs as the offensive line coach in 2004, the Falcons led the league in rushing with 2,672 yards. The rushing attack was stronger in 2006 as Atlanta rushed for 2,939 yards which is the highest season total on the ground since 1984.
