San Diego Chargers' Coach Norv Turner insists Antonio Gates is day-to-day, but some of the Pro Bowl tight end's teammates seem less than optimistic he will play Sunday in Indianapolis. The team on Monday announced Gates has a sprained toe, but the toe is also dislocated. Technically, one must have a sprain to have a dislocation, but a dislocation is worse than a sprain. "I don't know how long it's going to be," GM A.J. Smith said. "Any time that a star player is away from you, obviously it hurts you." Gates was injured when his foot got stuck in the ground as he was tackled and pushed back in the second quarter of Sunday's wild-card victory over Tennessee. "That's huge," Chargers' receiver Chris Chambers said. "Some guys are going to have to step up."
