Quarterback Tim Couch, a former No. 1 draft pick, and defensive end Kenard Lang have been suspended by the NFL for six games for violating the league?s steroids policy. The suspensions began during Week 3 and run through Week 8, but neither player is on an NFL roster. Couch was cut by Jacksonville and Lang by Denver in training camp. They are considered free agents because they have not filed retirement papers. The NFL?s policy calls for a player to serve a suspension at the time the disciplinary decision is made, whether he is active, injured or a free agent.
