The Philadelphia Eagles sustained back-to-back front office losses this week, with assistant general manager Alec Halaby and salary cap strategist Bryce Johnston both announcing their departures. Johnston has already landed with the Atlanta Falcons, while Halaby's next role remains undisclosed.
Halaby spent 17 years with Philadelphia, earning the assistant GM title in 2022 after six seasons as vice president of football operations and strategy. A Harvard graduate with a strong analytics foundation, he contributed to two Super Bowl championships and 10 postseason appearances across his tenure.
"It has been a rare privilege to contribute to building championship teams for the city of Philadelphia," Halaby said in a team statement. "The experience has been enriched by a set of special relationships with front office colleagues, coaches and players."
General manager Howie Roseman acknowledged the loss directly. "Alec has been a huge part of our success, and a close friend," Roseman said. "Although I am sad to see him leave the organization, I am excited to see what he does next."
Halaby confirmed his next move will remain within football without providing further specifics.
Johnston departed after a decade with Philadelphia, where he held the title of senior vice president and tertiary football executive. His work in contract structuring and salary cap management was regarded as one of the franchise's core organizational strengths.
Atlanta named Johnston senior vice president of football administration and senior personnel executive.
"Before moving on to a new challenge in Atlanta, I wanted to take this time to thank Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Don Smolenski for the opportunity they gave me over the past 10 years," Johnston wrote.
