Offensive playcalling duties were split between Matt Patricia and Joe Judge in the New England Patriots' preseason opener against the New York Giants on Thursday night.

Bill Belichick hasn't named an official offensive coordinator to replace Josh McDaniels, who left to coach the Las Vegas Raiders.

Patricia called the plays for the opening two series with Brian Hoyer at quarterback, then Judge took over when rookie Bailey Zappe entered the game.

"I thought it would be a good opportunity for us to do that," Belichick said.
