Patrick Mahomes has become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL during his first three seasons as a starter, but he may have been even better at basketball when growing up.

Mahomes was a four-year varsity basketball player at Whitehouse High School in Texas.

“Basketball was his best sport,” said Pat Mahomes Sr., his father, “because he could make everyone else better.”

Mahomes throws no-look passes and uses his off hand, which are the types of moves displayed on a basketball court.

“That’s all stuff that he did when he was playing basketball,” said Mahomes Sr.

Mahomes also had a future in baseball.

“He’s taken a piece of every game and used it all for when he plays quarterback,” Mahomes Sr. said. “He’s incorporated three sports into one.”
