The Dallas Cowboys are focused on hiring a proven NFL head coach as they search for Jason Garrett's replacement.

That criteria would eliminate college coaches such as Lincoln Riley, Matt Rhule and Dan Mullen.

The Cowboys have so far interviewed Mike McCarthy and Marvin Lewis. The Cowboys also recently had a phone conversation with Jeff Fisher.
