Linebacker Brian Simmons played nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He will not make it to a 10th. The Bengals on Wednesday waived Simmons, who moved from his normal outside spot to the middle in 2006 after Odell Thurman was suspended one year for violating the league's substance abuse policy. "This was not an easy decision to make," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "Brian has been a fine player on the field, and he has been a great example to all of our players as a team leader and a citizen."
