Buffalo Bills running back Willis McGahee returned after missing one series with a head and neck injury against the Miami Dolphins. McGahee had been knocked woozy and lost a fumble after being leveled by a helmet-to-helmet hit by linebacker Zach Thomas on the Bills' first possession. Thomas was not penalized on the play. After laying on the field for several minutes, McGahee walked slowly to the sideline while pointing to his helmet. He sat on the bench wearing a jacket and did not return for Buffalo's next series, the team announcing he was being held out for observation. McGahee returned in the second quarter and had 15 yards on four carries.
