Josh Gordon has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policies.

Gordon also was fined two additional game checks.

Gordon caught 50 passes as a rookie last season for the Cleveland Browns, finishing with 805 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

The Browns selected Gordon in the second round of the supplemental draft.

Gordon was dismissed from Baylor after getting suspended twice for using marijuana.

Gordon said in a statement that he used cough medicine containing codeine while recovering from strep throat. Codeine is a banned substance by the NFL.
