Santonio Holmes is out for the rest of the 2012 NFL season with a Lisfranc injury in his left foot.

Holmes, who was played on season-ending injured reserve, will need surgery.

“Obviously that’s a big loss for us,” said Ryan. “Santonio is one of the top receivers in the game. It is a big loss, with that, comes opportunity for other guys to step up.”

The Jets will have to rely more on receivers Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill and Chaz Schilens in Holmes’ absence. The team signed WR Jason Hill after placing Holmes on the IR.
