Geep Chryst, quarterback coach fo the 49ers, was responsible for drawing up the game-winning post-pattern pass from Alex Smith to Vernon Davis. Chryst developed the play from his time as an assistant coach with the Panthers, who the Saints face twice a year in the NFC South. "He knew there was a red-zone tendency that he felt really strongly about," San Francisco offensive coordinator Greg Roman said. "And it really paid off. . . . It was very specific for the Saints." Davis caught seven passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
