Former Broncos owner Edgar Kaiser Jr., who helped strike the deal to bring quarterback John Elway to town in 1983, has died at age 69. His charitable organization, The Kaiser Foundation of Vancouver, said in a press release that he died Wednesday. Kaiser owned the Broncos when the team obtained Elway in a trade with the Baltimore Colts. He sold his 60.8 percent share of the Broncos to the current owner and CEO, Pat Bowlen, in 1984. Later, he lost a court battle over the right to buy back a stake in the team.
