Bears president Ted Phillips said the search for Jerry Angelo's successor as GM began in earnest Tuesday, and a league source said the club is "meticulously vetting" Falcons director of player personnel Les Snead as a candidate to bring in to interview. A 17-year veteran in NFL personnel matters, Snead, 37, will interview with the Rams, according to the source. But at least three other teams, including the Bears, remain in serious play to secure the former scout's services. The Rams received permission to interview Snead earlier in the week.
