It is widely believed that wearing a mouthpiece can help prevent concussions while playing football. Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is coming off a concussion on Sunday against the Falcons and video appears to confirm that he was not wearing a mouthpiece. The Eagles declined comment through a team spokesman on whether he was wearing a mouth guard. Vick isn't required to use a mouthpiece. Neither are any other NFL players because of pushback from the NFL Players Association about making them mandatory despite the league’s strong anti-concussion efforts.
