Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora will almost certainly miss Sunday's season opener against the Redskins. Umenyiora was not on the practice field with the Giants on Monday morning. After practice, coach Tom Coughlin was asked whether Umenyiora would play on Sunday, and he responded, "I don't think so. A little early." The two-time Pro Bowler sat out the beginning of Giants training camp because he was dissatisfied with his current contract. Soon after he began practicing, his right knee started bothering him. He had arthroscopic surgery on the knee on Aug. 19.
