Mourners remembered Northwestern football coach Randy Walker on Thursday as a role model, friend and father figure who preached love and respect. "It's painful for Randy to be taken from us ... with so much to look forward to," Northwestern president Harry Bienen told more than 300 people gathered at a memorial service for the only coach to take the Wildcats to three bowl games. Walker, 52, died suddenly last week of an apparent heart attack. "He was a father figure, a friend, a mentor and a spiritual leader of our team," Joel Howells said, speaking for the players.
