The Argos won't impose a deadline on the Miami Dolphins to let Ricky Williams play in the Canadian Football League. With the situation nearing its third week and the Argos beginning training camp a week today, the Dolphins have yet to definitively say one way or the other whether their running back will be allowed to play for Toronto in 2006. Williams is suspended for the 2006 National Football League season because of his fourth violation of the substance abuse policy, but has two years left on his Miami deal. Williams' agent Leigh Steinberg has lobbied to the Dolphins to give the Argos, who placed the player on their negotiation list April 26, permission to negotiate a contract. "Many players have come to camp late. It's no real rush to do it or not to do it," Argo co-owner David Cynamon said yesterday at the Damon Allen Quarterback Challenge at Ivor Wynne Stadium. "We've got to be patient and I think it will just be a natural deadline at some point."
