The Jets haven't ruled out offseason shoulder surgery for Mark Sanchez, but the quarterback is hoping to avoid it. "I'm optimistic about everything and, hopefully, nothing needs to be done," Sanchez said Monday. "A little rest, and I'll be ready to go again." Sanchez was hurt Dec. 19 against the Steelers and an MRI exam at the time revealed minor cartilage damage, according to sources. He was limited in practices, but never missed a snap. "I'll still talk to the doctors about it," Sanchez said. "We did our exit physicals and they're thrilled about the progress I've made the last couple of weeks. Things are pointing in the right direction. If there was anything serious, I think things would have declined. Things could've gotten worse, and I wouldn't have been able to practice.
