Atlanta 31, Carolina 10 Trench Counter: Falcons +12.4, Panthers -12.4 The Atlanta Falcons (13-3) finished the season on a strong note, locking up the NFC?s top seed with a win over the Carolina Panthers (2-14) at the Georgia Dome. Matt Ryan had 236 yards and two touchdowns, while Chris Redman went 4-for-6 with 20 yards in mop-up duty. Michael Turner rushed 17 times for 67 yards and a touchdown. Roddy White (62 yards and a score) and Tony Gonzalez (53 yards and a touchdown) were Atlanta?s leading receivers. Jimmy Clausen went 19-for-33 with 182 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Brandon LaFell and Jonathan Stewart combined to rush for 91 yards on 14 carries. LaFell also led Carolina in receiving with four receptions for 63 yards. The game was coach John Fox?s final one with the franchise. Baltimore 13, Cincinnati 7 Trench Counter: Ravens +1.3, Bengals -1.3 The Baltimore Ravens (12-4) jumped to a 13-0 lead and held on against the Cincinnati Bengals (4-12) on Sunday. Joe Flacco had 125 yards and an interception, while Ray Rice tallied 77 yards and a touchdown on 20 touches. Todd Heap led the Ravens in receiving with three catches for 53 yards and Derrick Mason added 34 yards on three receptions. Carson Palmer struggled, going 32-for-45 with 305 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Cedric Benson and Bernard Scott combined to rush 26 times for 85 yards. Palmer hooked up with Jerome Simpson 12 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. Andre Caldwell also caught seven balls for 94 yards in the loss. Rashard Mendenhall rushed 14 times for 36 yards and two scores. Mike Wallace (105 yards on three catches) and Heath Miller (55 yards on four receptions) caught scoring strikes from Roethlisberger. BenJarvus Green-Ellis surpassed the 1,000-yard mark by totaling 80 yards and a score on 20 carries. Rookie tight end Rob Gronkowski led the Patriots with six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. Briscoe had four catches for a team-high 65 yards, while William hauled in four receptions for 40 yards. Aaron Rodgers had 229 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 19-for-28 passing. The Packers had just 60 rushing yards, but were able to win on the strength of their defense. Green Bay had six sacks and two interceptions. Greg Jennings led with four receptions for 97 yards. The Bears played their starters and Jay Cutler went 21-for-39 with 168 yards and two interceptions. Matt Forte was Chicago?s offensive star, rushing for 91 yards on 15 carries. He also hauled in eight catches for 60 yards. The Bears sacked Rodgers twice and forced two turnovers. Houston 34, Jacksonville 17 Trench Counter: Texans +16. Jaguars -16 The Houston Texans (6-10) did their part to dash the playoff hopes of the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8). Matt Schaub went 18-for-22 with 253 yards and a touchdown, while Arian Foster excelled and finished the regular season as the NFL?s leading rusher. Foster rushed 31 times for 180 yards and two touchdowns, while Derrick Ward added four dashes for 63 yards and a score. Giants 17, Washington 14 Trench Counter: Giants +5.4, Redskins -5.4 The New York Giants (10-6) did their part by beating the Washington Redskins (6-10), but they missed the postseason because Green Bay topped Chicago. San Diego 33, Denver 28 Trench Counter: Chargers +10, Broncos -10 The San Diego Chargers (9-7) held off the Denver Broncos (4-12) in a meaningless game on Sunday afternoon. Philip Rivers had 313 yards and an interception on 21-for-37 passing. Ryan Mathews had a career day, rushing 26 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Rivers completed passes to 10 different receivers and Legedu Naanee led with four catches for 79 yards. He finished the season with 4,710 passing yards, the 10th highest single-season total in NFL history. Tim Tebow went 16-for-36 with 205 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Tebow also rushed 13 times for 94 yards and a score. Knowshon Moreno and Lance Ball combined to rush for 62 yards on 12 touches. Brandon Lloyd continued his strong play with five catches for 73 yards and a score. San Francisco 38, Arizona 7 Trench Counter: 49ers +16.7, Cardinals -16.7 The San Francisco 49ers (6-10) scored 21 points in the third quarter of their win over the Arizona Cardinals (5-11). Alex Smith had 276 yards and two touchdowns on 15-for-29 passing. Brian Westbrook ran 13 times for 79 yards and two scores and Anthony Dixon added 22 yards on 11 touches. Vernon Davis led San Francisco with three catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. The 49ers had six sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Richard Bartel went 16-for-28 with 150 yards and John Skelton had 92 yards on 14-for-25 passing. Both quarterbacks threw an interception. Tim Hightower rushed 12 times for just 30 yards. Larry Fitzgerald had his best individual game of the season, catching 11 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Seattle 16, St. Louis 6 Trench Counter: Seahawks +6.9, Rams -6.9 The Seattle Seahawks (7-9) beat the St. Louis Rams (7-9) in a showdown on Sunday night to become the first division winner to finish the season under .500. Charlie Whitehurst went 22-for-36 with 192 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 4-yard pass to Mike Williams in the first quarter. It would be the game?s only touchdown. Marshawn Lynch atoned for an early fumble by finishing with 75 yards on 20 rushes. Whitehurst completed passes to 10 different receivers. Ruvell Martin led with three catches for 85 yards. Sam Bradford had 155 yards and an interception on 19-for-36 passing as the Rams were conservative offensively for a majority of the game. Steven Jackson rushed just 11 times for 45 yards and Bradford stuck to short passes. Daniel Fells and Jackson both had a team-high 39 receiving yards. The game was for the NFC West division, meaning Seattle will host New Orleans next weekend.
