There were two overtime games in the NFL on Sunday with the Jets and 49ers coming out on top. In addition, the Cowboys won with their new coach and Brett Favre and the Vikings struggled yet again. Atlanta 26, Baltimore 21 Trench Counter: Falcons +5.3, Ravens -5.3 Matt Ryan connected with Roddy White on a 33-yard touchdown pass to give the Atlanta Falcons (7-2) a victory over the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) on Thursday night. Ryan went 32-for-50 with 316 yards and three touchdowns, including two to White (12 receptions for 138 yards). Michael Turner had just 39 yards on 17 carries as Atlanta relied on their passing game. Joe Flacco went 22-for-34 with 215 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Baltimore got some better production on the ground, getting 59 yards from Ray Rice and 34 yards from Donte Stallworth on a pair of rushes. Todd Heap (57 yards and a touchdown), Anquan Boldin (50 yards and a score) and Derrick Mason (48 yards and a touchdown) led the Ravens in receiving. Buffalo 14, Detroit 12 Trench Counter: Bills +1.9, Lions -1.9 The Buffalo Bills (1-8) got their first win of the season over the Detroit Lions (2-7) at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Ryan Fitzpatrick had 146 yards and a touchdown, while Fred Jackson excelled with 133 rushing yards and a score through both the air and on the ground. Lee Evans led Buffalo in receiving with two catches for 52 yards. Shaun Hill went 29-for-50 with 323 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Jahvid Best had 35 yards on 17 carries in the loss, which was Detroit?s 25th consecutive road defeat. Calvin Johnson was the team?s lone offensive star, catching 10 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown. Chicago 27, Minnesota 13 Trench Counter: Bears +0.2, Vikings -0.2 Brett Favre threw three interceptions as the Minnesota Vikings (3-6) continued their struggles in a loss to the Chicago Bears (6-3). Jay Cutler went 22-for-35 with 237 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Johnny Knox had five catches for 90 yards, while Devin Hester, Greg Olsen and Kellen Davis all caught scoring receptions. Matt Forte rushed 21 times for 69 yards in the win. Favre went 18-for-31 with 170 yards a touchdown and four total turnovers. Adrian Peterson ran 17 times for 51 yards, while Toby Gerhart added 20 yards on four attempts. Percy Harvin led Minnesota with four catches for 64 yards and a touchdown, the team?s only of the game. N.Y. Jets 26, Cleveland 20 (OT) Trench Counter: Jets +4.6, Browns -4.6 Santonio Holmes caught a 37-yard pass from Mark Sanchez in overtime to give the New York Jets (7-2) an overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns (3-6). Sanchez went 27-for-44 with 299 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Shonn Greene had 72 yards and LaDainian Tomlinson added 57 yards on 18 carries. Holmes led New York in receiving with five catches for 76 yards and a score. Colt McCoy went 18-for-31 with 205 yards and a touchdown in his fourth straight start. Peyton Hillis, coming off a huge effort against the Patriots, had 82 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Josh Cribbs touched the ball just twice on offense, but he tallied 51 yards. Mohamed Massaquoi caught a three-yard pass from McCoy in the fourth quarter. Indianapolis 23, Cincinnati 17 Trench Counter: Colts +9.1, Bengals -9.1 Peyton Manning didn?t throw a touchdown pass, but the Indianapolis Colts (6-3) still defeated the Cincinnati Bengals (2-7). Manning went 20-for-36 with 185 yards while Donald Brown and Javarris James combined for 76 yards on 22 carries. Jacob Tamme led Indianapolis in receiving with seven catches for 73 yards. Kelvin Hayden scored Indy?s first touchdown on a 31-yard interception return in the first quarter. Carson Palmer went 31-for-42 with 292 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Cincinnati had 72 rushing yards on 20 carries, while Chad Ochocinco led the Bengals in receiving with seven catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. Miami 29, Tennessee 17 Trench Counter: Dolphins +12.6, Titans -12.6 The Miami Dolphins (5-4) lost both Chad Pennington and Chad Henne to injury but still topped the Tennessee Titans (5-4) at Sun Life Stadium. Henne went 19-for-28 with 240 yards, a touchdown and an interception after replacing Pennington early on. Tyler Thigpen finished the game with 64 yards and a touchdown on 4-for-6 passing. Ricky Williams had 11 carries for 64 yards, while Ronnie Brown dashed for a two-yard run in the first quarter. Anthony Fasano led Miami with 107 yards and a touchdown. Kerry Collins had 51 yards before departing with a calf injury, while Vince Young finished 9-for-18 with 92 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Chris Johnson excelled with 117 yards and a score; Young scrambled twice for 14 yards (he also lost a fumble). Bo Scaife led Tennessee with seven catches for 51 yards. Tampa Bay 31, Carolina 16 Trench Counter: Buccaneers +9.9, Panthers -9.9 The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3) defeated the Carolina Panthers (1-8) to remain in the NFC South picture. Josh Freeman went 18-for-24 with 241 yards and two touchdowns. LeGarrette Blount led Tampa Bay in rushing with 19 carries for 91 yards and a score, while Cadillac Williams rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. Mike Williams (four receptions for 68 yards) and Kellen Winslow (six catches for 65 yards and a score) led the team in receiving. Jimmy Clausen went 16-for-29 with 191 yards, while Mike Goodson led Carolina in rushing with 100 yards on 23 carries. Steve Smith led the Panthers with three catches for 47 yards. Carolina?s only win of the season came against San Francisco. Jacksonville 31, Houston 24 Trench Counter: Jaguars +8.5, Texans -8.5 The Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4) stole a game from the Houston Texans (4-5) on a Hail Mary pass from David Garrard to Mike Thomas as time expired. Garrard went 24-for-31 with 342 yards and two touchdowns, while Maurice Jones-Drew had 100 yards and two scores on 24 carries. Thomas led Jacksonville with eight catches for 149 yards, including 50 yards on the game-winning catch. Matt Schaub went 22-for-32 with 314 yards and two touchdowns, while Arian Foster rushed 15 times for 56 yards and a score. Andre Johnson (146 yards and a touchdown on nine catches) and Kevin Walter (six receptions for 90 yards and a score) led Houston in receiving. After starting the season 4-2, the Texans have lost three straight. Denver 49, Kansas City 29 Trench Counter: Broncos +7, Chiefs -7 The Denver Broncos (3-6) jumped out to a 35-0 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) and never looked back. Kyle Orton went 22-for-34 with 296 yards and four touchdowns, while Tim Tebow threw his first NFL touchdown pass in the win. Knowshon Moreno had 106 yards on 22 carries and Tebow added another score on a one-yard run in the second quarter. Brandon Lloyd led Denver with six receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Cassel went 33-for-53 with 469 yards and four interceptions, but Kansas City fell behind early. Jamaal Charles rushed 14 times for 41 yards. Dwayne Bowe led the Chiefs with 13 receptions for 186 yards and two score, while Charles added five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Dallas 33, N.Y. Giants 20 Trench Counter: Cowboys +14.7, Giants -14.7 The Dallas Cowboys (2-7) won in Jason Garrett?s first game as their head coach against the New York Giants (6-3) on Sunday afternoon. Jon Kitna went 13-for-22 with 327 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Felix Jones and Marion Barber combined for 98 rushing yards on 22 yards. Dez Bryant had the best game of his young career, catching three passes for 104 yards and a score. Eli Manning had 373 yards, but struggled going 33-for-48 with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Ahmad Bradshaw led New York in rushing with 20 carries for 73 yards. Mario Manningham had 10 catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. Seattle 36, Arizona 18 Trench Counter: Seahawks +12.3, Cardinals -12.3 After taking the lead in the second quarter the Seattle Seahawks (5-4) didn?t trail against the Arizona Cardinals (3-6). Matt Hasselbeck went 22-for-34 with 333 yards and a touchdown, while Justin Forsett and Marshawn Lynch combined for 93 yards and two scores on 22 carries. Mike Williams led Seattle with 11 receptions fro 145 yards and Deon Butler added four catches for 66 yards and a score. Derek Anderson went 23-for-45 with 322 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Arizona rushed for just 41 yards, with Tim Hightower tallying 39 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Steve Breaston (98 yards), Larry Fitzgerald (91 yards) and Early Doucet (71 yards and a touchdown) were the Cardinals? top receivers. San Francisco 23, St. Louis 20 (OT) Trench Counter: 49ers +12.7, Rams -12.7 Joe Nedney kicked a 29-yard field goal in overtime after a pass interference call to give the San Francisco 49ers (3-6) a big win over the St. Louis Rams (4-5). Troy Smith went 17-for-28 with 356 yards and a touchdown. Frank Gore dashed 22 times for 87 yards and a touchdown, while Smith scrambled three times for 12 yards. Smith completed passes for six different receivers, with five players surpassing the 50-yard mark. Sam Bradford went 30-for-42 with 251 yards and a touchdown. Steven Jackson rushed for 81 yards and a score on 20 carries for a 4.1 yards-per-carry average. Brandon Gibson was the leading receiver for the Rams with eight catches for 72 yards and Danny Amendola had seven receptions for 51 yards and touchdown.
