Week Nine's action in the NFL was highlighted by three overtime games, Cleveland's win over New England and Michael Vick's production against the Colts. Atlanta 27, Tampa Bay 21 Trench Counter: Falcons +5.7, Buccaneers -5.7 The Atlanta Falcons (6-2) outlasted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-3) to gain some control of the NFC South. Matt Ryan went 24-for-36 with 235 yards and a touchdown. Michael Turner led Atlanta?s offense with 107 yards and two scores on 24 carries. Tony Gonzalez led the Falcons in receiving with eight receptions for 72 yards. Josh Freeman had 189 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Tampa Bay split their carries between LeGarrette Blount (46 yards on 13 touches) and Cadillac Williams (eight carries for 13 yards), while Mike Williams starred with four catches for 89 yards and a score. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter. Baltimore 26, Miami 10 Trench Counter: Ravens +13, Dolphins -13 The Baltimore Ravens (6-2) scored at least six points in each of the game?s four quarters against the Miami Dolphins (4-4) at M&T Bank Stadium. Joe Flacco went 20-for-27 with 266 yards and two touchdowns, which went to Willis McGahee and Derrick Mason. Ray Rice led Baltimore in rushing with 83 yards on 22 carries. Rice also had seven catches for 97 yards. Chad Henne struggled, going 22-for-34 with 231 yards and three interceptions. Ronnie Brown scored Miami?s only touchdown on a 12-yard run in the first quarter. Brian Hartline had four catches for 85 yards. The Dolphins didn?t score in the second half. Chicago 22, Buffalo 19 Trench Counter: Bears +4.1, Bills -4.1 The Chicago Bears (5-3) kept the Buffalo Bills (0-8) out of the win column with a victory in Toronto on Sunday afternoon. Jay Cutler had 188 yards and two touchdowns on 17-for-30 passing. Matt Forte (14 carries for 49 yards) and Chester Taylor (10 touches for 13 yards) shared the rushing load for Chicago, which also got 39 yards from Cutler. Earl Bennett caught a touchdown pass from Cutler and led the team with four catches for 52 yards. Ryan Fitzpatrick accumulated 299 yards, but had two interceptions against a single touchdown. The Bills struggled on the ground with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson combining for just 36 yards on 15 carries. Steve Johnson was Fitzpatrick?s top target, catching 11 passes for 145 yards. New Orleans 34, Carolina 3 Trench Counter: Saints +16, Panthers -16 The New Orleans Saints (6-3) kept pace with the Falcons thanks to a victory over the Carolina Panthers (1-7). Drew Brees went 27-for-43 with 253 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Julius Jones (68 yards), Chris Ivory (50 yards) and Ladell Betts (31 yards and a score) all helped New Orleans control the game and the clock. Lance Moore led the Saints with 77 yards, while Jimmy Graham and Jeremy Shockey reached the end zone. Three different quarterbacks threw passes for Carolina thanks to both struggles and injury. Jimmy Clausen went 8-for-18 with 47 yards and an interception, Tony Pike went 6-for-12 with 47 yards and Matt Moore had 13 passing yards on six attempts. Carolina had just 195 total yards and punted seven times. Cleveland 34, New England 14 Trench Counter: Browns +16.3, Patriots -16.3 The Cleveland Browns (3-5) shocked the New England Patriots (6-2) on Sunday afternoon. Colt McCoy went 14-for-19 with 174 yards, while Peyton Hillis started with 184 yards and two touchdowns. McCoy rushed for a touchdown on a 16-yard run in the third quarter. Hillis also caught three passes for 36 yards in Cleveland?s headline-earning victory. Tom Brady had 224 yards and two touchdowns on 19-for-36 passing, but under threw a number of his receivers. Brian Hoyer threw two passes in relief on Brady on New England?s final possession. Danny Woodhead rushed for a team-high 54 yards on nine carries, while rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez led with five receptions for 48 yards and two touchdowns. N.Y Jets 23, Detroit 20 (OT) Trench Counter: Jets +1.9, Lions -1.9 The New York Jets (6-2) stormed back in the fourth quarter to force overtime against the Detroit Lions (2-6) and earned the win in overtime. Mark Sanchez had 336 yards, a touchdown and an interception. LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene combined for 101 yards on 25 carries. Santonio Holmes had five catches for 114 yards and Braylon Edwards caught a 71-yard touchdown pass from Sanchez. Matt Stafford went 20-for-36 with 240 yards and two touchdowns before leaving in the fourth with an apparent shoulder injury. Stafford also had 11 rushing yards and a score. Nate Burleson led Detroit with seven receptions for 113 yards and a trip to the end zone. San Diego 29, Houston 23 Trench Counter: Chargers -1.2, Texans +1.2 The San Diego Chargers (4-5) got a much-needed win over the Houston Texans (4-4) thanks to four touchdown passes from Philip Rivers. The quarterback went 17-for-23 with 295 yards and an interception to go with his four scoring strikes. Ryan Mathews (42 yards) and Mike Tolbert (32 yards) carried the rushing load for San Diego. Seyi Ajirotutu led with four receptions for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Matt Schaub had 267 yards and an interception, but Arian Foster?s legs kept the Texans in the game. Foster rushed 27 times for 127 yards and two trips to the end zone and added four catches for 70 yards. Minnesota 27, Arizona 24 (OT) Trench Counter: Vikings +8.3, Cardinals -8.3 The Minnesota Vikings (3-5) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime and defeat the Arizona Cardinals (3-5) on Sunday. Brett Favre threw for a career-high 446 yards on 36-for-47 passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Adrian Peterson rushed for 81 yards and a score, while adding 63 receiving yards and another touchdown. Percy Harvin led the Vikings with nine grabs for 126 yards. Derek Anderson went 15-for-26 with 179 yards and a touchdown, but Arizona didn?t get much on the ground. Tim Hightower had 39 yards on 13 carries, while Anderson scrambled three times for 16 yards. Larry Fitzgerald had seven receptions for 107 yards to lead the Cardinals. N.Y. Giants 41, Seattle 7 Trench Counter: Giants +28.8, Seahawks -28.8 The New York Giants (6-2) jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first half and never looked back against the Seattle Seahawks (4-4). Eli Manning went 21-for-32 with 290 yards and three touchdowns, while New York excelled on the ground. Brandon Jacobs had 78 yards, Danny Ware had 66 yards and Ahmad Bradshaw tallied 57 yards and two touchdowns. Hakeem Nicks led the Giants in receiving with six catches for 128 yards and a score. Charlie Whitehurst made his first NFL start in relief of Matt Hasselbeck and went 12-for-23 with 113 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Marshawn Lynch rushed 11 times for 48 yards as Seattle had just 162 total yards. Ben Obomanu caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Whitehurst in the fourth quarter. Oakland 23, Kansas City 20 (OT) Trench Counter: Raiders -5.3, Chiefs +5.3 The Oakland Raiders (5-4) continued their resurgence with an overtime win over the rival Kansas City Chiefs (5-3). Jason Campbell went 19-for-33 with 229 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Darren McFadden rushed for 89 yards and Jacoby Ford led Oakland in receiving with six catches for 148 yards. A pair of Sebastian Janikowski field goals forced overtime and then won the game. Matt Cassel went 20-for-35 with 216 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones combined to rush for 85 yards on 29 carries, while Dwayne Bowe led Kansas City in receiving with five catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs played in back-to-back overtime games. Philadelphia 26, Indianapolis 24 Trench Counter: Eagles +4.5, Colts -4.5 Michael Vick made a successful return as the Philadelphia Eagles (5-3) defeated the Indianapolis Colts (5-3) at Lincoln Financial Field. Vick went 17-for-29 with 218 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 74 yards and a score. LeSean McCoy (95 yards) and DeSean Jackson (20 yards) added to Philly?s total on the ground. Jackson led the Eagles in receiving with seven grabs for 109 yards and a score. Peyton Manning went 31-for-52 with 294 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Donald Brown led Indy?s injury-depleted backfield with 50 yards as they leaned on the passing game. Manning hooked up with Jacob Tamme (11 receptions for 108 yards and a score) and Reggie Wayne (11 catches for 83 yards) often.
