Steve Smith escaped a serious scare when X-rays revealed no broken bones after Tampa Bay cornerback Elbert Mack hit his left wrist on the frantic final play of Carolina's 20-7 loss to Tampa Bay. Smith broke the same wrist twice in the last nine months, last December in New York against the Giants and in June while playing flag football. "Negatory," Smith replied when asked if the tests showed any damage. "That's affirmative. Very," he said when asked if he was scared that wouldn't be the case. "Just a good little shot, facemask right into it, right into my wrist. "I was pretty nervous, it just brought back memories. It's working, it's good. The x-rays, no break. I'm fine."
