The Texans have agreed to terms with guard Shelley Smith on a four-year contract. Smith was a sixth round pick out of Colorado State. Houston also signed three free agents who had been brought in for tryouts: tight end Derek Fine, fullback Justin Griffith and receiver Bobby Williams.
