Pete Carroll said Monday that he wasn't expecting to get an offer from the Seahawks. Carroll, who joined USC in 2000, is leaving the college ranks for another stint in the NFL. "But it came out of nowhere," he told the Los Angeles Times of Seattle's offer. In a statement released from the school Monday, Carroll said the school approached him about staying. "But this choice is about pursuing the great challenges of competing in the NFL," Carroll said in the release. "And I found this opportunity too compelling to pass up."
