The Packers were very high on USC linebacker Clay Matthews heading into last month's NFL Draft, and considered taking him with the ninth overall pick. Sources around the league said last week that Green Bay would have selected Matthews with the pick if nose tackle B.J. Raji was off the board. "Now that I think back on it, I did have some great meetings with the Packers' organization and its representatives," said Matthews, who was taken by Green Bay with the 26th pick. "Just being able to relate. They were able to see the type of guy I was."
