The NFL admitted on Thursday that Kurt Warner's fumble with 5 seconds to go in Sunday's Super Bowl should have been reviewed by the referee. Mike Pereira, the NFL's vice president of officiating, said, considering it was the last minute of the Super Bowl, the replay assistant in the booth should have sent Warner's fumble down to the field for a review by referee Terry McAulay. "Looking back, because of all the discussion, looking at the last play of the Super Bowl, we would be wise to send it down even though it would not change," Pereira told the Daily News. "So everybody can say we looked at it as long as we could possibly look at it. It wouldn't have changed the outcome, that is for sure."
