Phil Simms, the CBS analyst and former NFL quarterback, figures about 20 teams eventually will line up to offer Terrell Owens a one-year, incentive-laden contract. "NFL coaches, by nature, are often resident psychologists," Simms said Tuesday. "They are very good at manipulating people. As coaches, they think they can overcome anything. And sometimes, they believe greatness comes with a price." Calling Dr. Saban... The Dolphins will have enough salary-cap space to pursue Owens next season, and coach Nick Saban already has a big notch in his psychiatrist's couch. "I can see how people in Miami could get excited about the idea," ESPN analyst Sean Salisbury said. "And I give Nick a lot of credit for what he did with Ricky Williams. Ricky was disrespectful to his teammates, but Saban gave him a second chance. He didn't judge him by what other people said.'' But before Dolphins fans envision T.O. in aqua and orange, Salisbury has a warning. "This is a whole different egg now,'' he said. "I wouldn't touch Terrell Owens with a 20-foot pole." Unless the Eagles reverse field and welcome him back, the suspended Owens likely is done for this season. The trading deadline has passed and the Eagles are unlikely to release him so he could hook up with another team. So where else might this castoff Eagle land? The Broncos, Saints, Seahawks and Redskins have been mentioned as franchises with needs and money. More speculation will come before the free-agent signing period begins in March.
