The recession has officially hit the NFL. On Tuesday, news broke that the league will lay off about 150 people as a result of America's economic woes. The number represents more than 10 percent of the league's workforce. "These are difficult and painful steps," Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote in a memo. "But they are necessary in the current economic environment. I would like to be able to report that we are immune to the troubles around us, but we are not. Properly managed, I am confident the NFL will emerge stronger, more efficient, and poised to pursue long-term growth opportunities."
