I'm not one who is overly influenced by the highly regimented workouts in shorts in Indianapolis, so this list will not change much between now and draft time. The Combine reveals how well a player handles pressure, his competitiveness, and provides a better picture of his overall intelligence and personality -- not how well he plays football. Those "intangibles" do matter, however, and can change perception of a player's ceiling or reliability. This list is not indicative of draft position. Certain positions have higher draft value than others, and I do factor in that value to a team to some extent; if a quarterback or defensive end and a safety or tight end are on the same level, the quarterback/defensive end will be rated higher here as they are generally regarded as more valuable positions. My basic rule of thumb is, "How likely is this player to become a Pro Bowl-caliber NFL starter?" Weighing potential upside with the probability of achievement is inherently subjective and risky, but it's also what scouts and personnel evaluators are paid to do. 1.
