Reviewing Week 11

Star Of Stars

QB: Matt Schaub – Who would’ve thought that the Texans-Jaguars matchup would produce such crazy numbers! Schaub, a serviceable starting fantasy QB (but not much more) threw for 527 yards and 5 TDs, along with 2 INTs. Schaub won’t put up these numbers again this season (or maybe ever), but he should continue to be a low end fantasy starter.

RB: LaRod Stephens-Howling – Week 11 did not produce many strong performances by running backs. Stephens-Howling had the best performance, with 127 rushing yards and a TD. LSH was touted earlier this season as a solid RB2 prospect, and he has certainly taken advantage of the injuries the Cardinals have sustained. While the Cardinals are in the midst of a tailspin, Stephens-Howling should continue to put up solid numbers going forward.

WR: Andre Johnson – What had been a relatively quiet season for Johnson (based on his status as an elite WR) took a loud turn when Johnson torched the Jags for 273 yards and a TD with his 14 catches. Health has cooperated so far, and hopefully Johnson can find the endzone with more regularity in the remaining games.

TE: Rob Gronkowski – So while it feels great to put Gronk’s name back here, sadly it will be the last time this season, as he is expected to miss the rest of the regular season. Gronk delivered one more delicious stat line for his owners – 7 catches for 137 yards and 2 TDs. But, his owners are left scrambling for a replacement for most likely the remainder of the season. A massive dropoff awaits Gronk’s owners.

Unforeseen Explosions

QB: Chad Henne – The Jaguars had several unforeseen explosions during Week 11, starting with Henne. After throwing for 354 yards and 4 TDs against the Texans, what do we expect going forward? After all, this is Chad Henne, and his career thus far has been the definition of mediocre. Is this the new and improved Chad Henne? Not likely, as least not for the long term. Feel free to add him in a hail mary move, but don’t set expectations too high. To be clear though, Henne boosts all Jags offensive players’ values when compared to Blaine Gabbert.

RB: Jalen Parmele – After Rashard Jennings rendered himself benchworthy in the eyes of the Jags’ coaching staff, Parmele got the chance to show his stuff against the Texans. Not a bad performance, with 80 yards on 24 carries. As mentioned, not a strong rushing day across the NFL. Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to return soon, so temper your excitement for Parmele (in case you have any excitement). Not much to see here in terms of fantasy return.

WR: Justin Blackmon – Blackmon has been well on his way towards a putrid rookie season, but insert Chad Henne into the QB slot, and Blackmon does his best Randy Moss impression.  Blackmon had 7 catches for 236 yards and a TD. As a high level 1st round pick, Blackmon certainly has the talent to put up great numbers. If Henne continues to start, then Blackmon gets a boost in ranking as well. As with any Jaguar, don’t go overboard with expectations, but Blackmon would profile as a WR3 going forward.

TE: Tony Moeaki – Finally a non-Jaguar in this spot. Not much went right for the Chiefs on Sunday, nor has anything gone right this season, but Tony Moeaki had a nice game, with 4 catches for 73 yards. As long as the QB situation in KC is a mess, expectations for Moeaki should remain low, but keep an eye on him for next season if the QB situation gets straightened out. Moeaki can certainly play.

Special Shoutout

AJ Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals - AJ Green was touted in our pre-draft rankings as a top 3 WR for the season. Looks like we undersold him, as he ranks as the #1 WR for the season thus far. He hasn’t made it into the weekly reviews much because he’s merely been consistent week to week, as opposed to going off in certain weeks. Green has scored at least 1 TD in 9 straight games (in all but the opening week), and as a result has given his fantasy owners the best scoring distribution – consistent, weekly points. Look for Green to continue to dominate for years to come.
