If you pick this Adrian Peterson with your #1 pick, I want to be in your league
A fantasy mock draft is much like a child, as time passes external forces and pressures have an impact on that child?s development as well as that child?s fantasy value if such a league were to exists and I hope it does not.
With the season just around the corner and many Fantasy Football drafts beginning, we are pleased to present our final Mock Draft 2.2. The suspensions are in and the starters have been named? for the most part.
12 Rounds (nobody cares about 13-16), 12 Teams, standard scoring (no PPR) and 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1 Flex (RB/WR), 1TE a DST and a Kicker.
About your authors:
Derek Johnson is not allowed to tell his two-championship Jerome Harrison story so I will just make a prediction: the son of the guy who played Huggy Bear will win help somebody a championship this season..
Nate Swansoneti is determined to win his first championship and to do this he will have to fight his uncontrollable bad trade addiction
| Round 1 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 1 | Derek | Peterson, Adrian (RB MIN) |
| 2 | Stephen | Johnson, Chris (RB TEN) |
| 3 | Pontos | Turner, Michael (RB ATL) |
| 4 | Paul | Jones-Drew, Maurice (RB JAC) |
| 5 | Nate | Gore, Frank (RB SF) |
| 6 | Vic | Rice, Ray (RB BAL) |
| 7 | Paul | Rodgers, Aaron (QB GB) |
| 8 | Nickoli | Johnson, Andre (WR HOU) |
| 9 | Craig | Manning, Peyton (QB IND) |
| 10 | Ed | Jackson, Steven (RB STL) |
| 11 | Todd | Moss, Randy (WR NE) |
| 12 | AD Greene | Brees, Drew (QB NO) |
Analysis: The general consensus here is that once the top-6 running backs go, it is time to take an elite QB or WR. Jackson could push the top 6 to 7, problem is, he plays for a lousy team and was a no-show without warning in Week 16 last season due to a back injury, killing fantasy championship dreams.
Pick of the Round: Round 1 is tough; I got to say Brees at the last pick and 3rd QB. Many have him as the best QB overall.
What Was He Thinking?: Turner before MJD? It is possible I guess, Turner's weakness is his lack of receiving stats, MJD runs and catches and is the obvious #3.
| Round 2 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 13 | AD Greene | Williams, DeAngelo (RB CAR) |
| 14 | Todd | Mendenhall, Rashard (RB PIT) |
| 15 | Ed | Austin, Miles (WR DAL) |
| 16 | Craig | Benson, Cedric (RB CIN) |
| 17 | Nickoli | Greene, Shonn (RB NYJ) |
| 18 | Paul | Wayne, Reggie (WR IND) |
| 19 | Vic | Jackson, DeSean (WR PHI) |
| 20 | Nate | Grant, Ryan (RB GB) |
| 21 | Paul | White, Roddy (WR ATL) |
| 22 | Pontos | Fitzgerald, Larry (WR ARI) |
| 23 | Stephen | Marshall, Brandon (WR MIA) |
| 24 | Derek | Mathews, Ryan (RB SD) |
Analysis: A fairly standard round, it was interesting to see Miles go above Wayne, White and Fitz. That said, Miles had a top 5 season in just 13 games, he is young and eager to prove.
Pick of the Round: Top RB Ryan Grant at #20. Why? He has been consistent and underrated for a top-tier offense. I would love him as my #2 back and that is where Nate got him.
What Was He Thinking?: Favorable analysis aside, Miles went a bit early at pick 15 over proven WR's like Marshall, White and Wayne. Ed is really high on the Dallas offense in 2010.
| Round 3 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 25 | Derek | Johnson, Calvin (WR DET) |
| 26 | Stephen | Brady, Tom (QB NE) |
| 27 | Pontos | Romo, Tony (QB DAL) |
| 28 | Paul | Colston, Marques (WR NO) |
| 29 | Nate | Schaub, Matt (QB HOU) |
| 30 | Vic | Thomas, Pierre (RB NO) |
| 31 | Paul | Jennings, Greg (WR GB) |
| 32 | Nickoli | McCoy, LeSean (RB PHI) |
| 33 | Craig | Charles, Jamaal (RB KC) |
| 34 | Ed | Wells, Beanie (RB ARI) |
| 35 | Todd | Moreno, Knowshon (RB DEN) |
| 36 | AD Greene | Smith, Steve (WR NYG) |
Analysis: There are a lot of young Running Backs that went in Round 3, five to be exact.
Pick of the Round: Noting really stands out here, pretty standard.
What Was He Thinking?: McCoy at 32 overall seems a bit high considering no-name RB Leanord Weaver was the best back in the Eagles backfield last season.
| Round 4 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 37 | AD Greene | Addai, Joseph (RB IND) |
| 38 | Todd | Stewart, Jonathan (RB CAR) |
| 39 | Ed | Brown, Ronnie (RB MIA) |
| 40 | Craig | Rice, Sidney (WR MIN) |
| 41 | Nickoli | Welker, Wes (WR NE) |
| 42 | Paul | Boldin, Anquan (WR BAL) |
| 43 | Vic | Clark, Dallas (TE IND) |
| 44 | Nate | Smith, Steve (WR CAR) |
| 45 | Paul | Rivers, Philip (QB SD) |
| 46 | Pontos | Jones, Felix (RB DAL) |
| 47 | Stephen | Ochocinco, Chad (WR CIN) |
| 48 | Derek | Gates, Antonio (TE SD) |
Analysis: Round 4 is chalked full of potential has-beens from Addai to Ochocinco sandwiched by Steve Smith and Anquan Boldin. Two of the NFL's best TE's go in 4 in Clark and Gates.
Pick of the Round: I like Addai as a starting RB for a perennially good offense in Round 3, to get him in 4 is even better.
What Was He Thinking?: Felix Jones may have all the potential in the world. But.. He can't avoid injury and shares the backfield with two other solid Running Backs. Round 4, no way.
| Round 5 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 49 | Derek | Best, Jahvid (RB DET) |
| 50 | Stephen | Davis, Vernon (TE SF) |
| 51 | Pontos | Bush, Reggie (RB NO) |
| 52 | Paul | Witten, Jason (TE DAL) |
| 53 | Nate | Bowe, Dwayne (WR KC) |
| 54 | Vic | Kolb, Kevin (QB PHI) |
| 55 | Paul | Finley, Jermichael (TE GB) |
| 56 | Nickoli | Flacco, Joe (QB BAL) |
| 57 | Craig | Barber, Marion (RB DAL) |
| 58 | Ed | Celek, Brent (TE PHI) |
| 59 | Todd | Crabtree, Michael (WR SF) |
| 60 | AD Greene | Ward, Hines (WR PIT) |
Analysis: The third tier of QB comes off the board with potential superstars in Flacco and Kolb. 2nd year WR Crabtree continues to rise as does TE Finley.
Pick of the Round: Honestly, not a lot of value in Round 5 as far as I can see.
What Was He Thinking?: Reggie Bush? Pontos wins another round with his pick of the #2 back in New Orleans. Lest we forget the Saints are a passing team.
| Round 6 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 61 | AD Greene | Williams, Cadillac (RB TB) |
| 62 | Todd | Cutler, Jay (QB CHI) |
| 63 | Ed | Forte, Matt (RB CHI) |
| 64 | Craig | Driver, Donald (WR GB) |
| 65 | Nickoli | Daniels, Owen (TE HOU) |
| 66 | Paul | Bradshaw, Ahmad (RB NYG) |
| 67 | Vic | Garcon, Pierre (WR IND) |
| 68 | Nate | Portis, Clinton (RB WAS) |
| 69 | Paul | Bush, Michael (RB OAK) |
| 70 | Pontos | Jones, Thomas (RB KC) |
| 71 | Stephen | Favre, Brett (QB MIN) |
| 72 | Derek | Palmer, Carson (QB CIN) |
Analysis: It seems the Rounds 6-8 are full players with a tremendous upside. Favre, Forte, Williams could all finish in the top-5 of their respective positions. Okay, maybe not Cadillac.
Pick of the Round: Forte, this guy is too good to go so low.
What Was He Thinking?: This was a good round and I don't see a pick that stands out as awful.
| Round 7 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 73 | Derek | Nicks, Hakeem (WR NYG) |
| 74 | Stephen | Spiller, C.J. (RB BUF) |
| 75 | Pontos | Sims-Walker, Mike (WR JAC) |
| 76 | Paul | Forsett, Justin (RB SEA) |
| 77 | Nate | Gonzalez, Tony (TE ATL) |
| 78 | Vic | Jacobs, Brandon (RB NYG) |
| 79 | Paul | Tomlinson, LaDainian (RB NYJ) |
| 80 | Nickoli | Harrison, Jerome (RB CLE) |
| 81 | Craig | Shiancoe, Visanthe (TE MIN) |
| 82 | Ed | Wallace, Mike (WR PIT) |
| 83 | Todd | Miller, Zach (TE OAK) |
| 84 | AD Greene | Cooley, Chris (TE WAS) |
Analysis: This round is stacked with potential top-tier talent. Jacobs, Forsett, Nicks, and on and on and on. For the draft, remember, Rounds 6-8 will make your team.
Pick of the Round: Jacobs feels like a steal in Round 7 considering he is a perennial top 2 round pick.
What Was He Thinking?: This was a good round and I don't see a pick that stands out as awful.
| Round 8 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 85 | AD Greene | Jets (DST NYJ) |
| 86 | Todd | Packers (DST GB) |
| 87 | Ed | Manning, Eli (QB NYG) |
| 88 | Craig | Cowboys (DST DAL) |
| 89 | Nickoli | Slaton, Steve (RB HOU) |
| 90 | Paul | Tate, Ben (RB HOU) |
| 91 | Vic | Hightower, Tim (RB ARI) |
| 92 | Nate | Harvin, Percy (WR MIN) |
| 93 | Paul | Owens, Terrell (WR CIN) |
| 94 | Pontos | Bryant, Dez (WR DAL) |
| 95 | Stephen | Jackson, Vincent (WR SD) |
| 96 | Derek | Floyd, Malcom (WR SD) |
Analysis: The final round of our mega-value picks, take out the DST and every pick here has a chance to make an impact. Which proves why you should wait to pick a D. Would you rather have a guy like Tim Hightower or a #1 WR for a top team in Malcom Floyd or would you rather have the Cowboys D? Also, Floyd and VJax going back to back?
Pick of the Round: Malcom Floyd at 96. He is the #1 (behind Gates) receiver in San Diego, he is going to be huge.
What Was He Thinking?: Cowboys D. Jets and Packers were bad enough, but at least they were top-3 in 2009. The Cowboys? What a waste.
| Round 9 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 97 | Derek | Jackson, Fred (RB BUF) |
| 98 | Stephen | Hardesty, Montario (RB CLE) |
| 99 | Pontos | Maclin, Jeremy (WR PHI) |
| 100 | Paul | Winslow, Kellen (TE TB) |
| 101 | Nate | Williams, Ricky (RB MIA) |
| 102 | Vic | 49ers (DST SF) |
| 103 | Paul | McFadden, Darren (RB OAK) |
| 104 | Nickoli | Moss, Santana (WR WAS) |
| 105 | Craig | Hartley, Garrett (K NO) |
| 106 | Ed | Holmes, Santonio (WR NYJ) |
| 107 | Todd | Akers, David (K PHI) |
| 108 | AD Greene | Longwell, Ryan (K MIN) |
|
Analysis: Yahoo's and their kickers. Why?Why. I picked up the 49ers DST in week 13 last year. Why draft them?
Pick of the Round: Fred Jackson. Starting RB in Round 9?bonus!
What Was He Thinking?: Take your pick.
| Round 10 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 109 | AD Greene | Breaston, Steve (WR ARI) |
| 110 | Todd | Mason, Derrick (WR BAL) |
| 111 | Ed | Giants (DST NYG) |
| 112 | Craig | Ryan, Matt (QB ATL) |
| 113 | Nickoli | Houshmandzadeh, T.J. (WR SEA) |
| 114 | Paul | Vikings (DST MIN) |
| 115 | Vic | Bironas, Rob (K TEN) |
| 116 | Nate | McNabb, Donovan (QB WAS) |
| 117 | Paul | Maroney, Laurence (RB NE) |
| 118 | Pontos | Boss, Kevin (TE NYG) |
| 119 | Stephen | Ravens (DST BAL) |
| 120 | Derek | Roethlisberger, Ben (QB PIT) |
Analysis: Still some nice picks here with Ryan, McNabb and Busy Hands Ben. Rob Bironas is the only kicker I would take because of his name, it goes with that song?Ra Ra Ra Ra Roooob Bironis!
Pick of the Round: Speaking of those Busy Hands, Big Ben will be back at starting QB by mid-season. Will be great for the fantasy playoffs.
What Was He Thinking?: Any DST
| Round 11 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 121 | Derek | Thomas, Demaryius (WR DEN) |
| 122 | Stephen | Meachem, Robert (WR NO) |
| 123 | Pontos | Steelers (DST PIT) |
| 124 | Paul | Eagles (DST PHI) |
| 125 | Nate | Brown, Donald (RB IND) |
| 126 | Vic | Williams, Roy E. (WR DAL) |
| 127 | Paul | Aromashodu, Devin (WR CHI) |
| 128 | Nickoli | Cassel, Matt Greene (QB KC) |
| 129 | Craig | Taylor, Chester (RB CHI) |
| 130 | Ed | Manningham, Mario (WR NYG) |
| 131 | Todd | McGahee, Willis (RB BAL) |
| 132 | AD Greene | Smith, Kevin (RB DET) |
Analysis: I'd still rather take a Donald Brown then take the Steelers DST.
Pick of the Round: Donald Brown and Kevin Smith. Both have the potential to garner 20 carries a game, both come as a steal in Round 11.
What Was He Thinking?: Demaryius Thomas? He can still surprise ya!
| Round 12 | | |
| Pick | Team | Player |
| 133 | AD Greene | Evans, Lee (WR BUF) |
| 134 | Todd | Smith, Alex (QB SF) |
| 135 | Ed | Foster, Arian (RB HOU) |
| 136 | Craig | Cotchery, Jerricho (WR NYJ) |
| 137 | Nickoli | Miller, Heath (TE PIT) |
| 138 | Paul | Collie, Austin (WR IND) |
| 139 | VIc | Bears (DST CHI) |
| 140 | Nate | Edward, Braylon (WR NYJ) |
| 141 | Paul | Schilens, Chaz (WR OAK) |
| 142 | Pontos | Crosby, Mason (K GB) |
| 143 | Stephen | Hester, Devin (WR CHI) |
| 144 | Derek | Gostkowski, Stephen (K NE) |
Analysis: Round 12 is a time to find a low risk, nice reward type player. Nothing to lose here and one of these fellas may just evolve into an every week starter.
Pick of the Round: I don?t know?Devin Hester maybe? Chaz?
What Was He Thinking?: Tie between Crosby and Gostkowski. I?d rather have Grammatica.
