By Christopher Reina Wade Phillips and the Cowboys escaped Buffalo with their lives on Monday night and preserve the battle of unbeaten teams this Sunday when they host the Patriots. * The number in parenthesis is the average point differential per game. 1. New England Patriots (23.4) Laurence Maroney has been hurt, but they haven?t missed a beat whatsoever with Sammy Morris and his 370 yards and 3 touchdowns. 2. Pittsburgh Steelers (17) The emergence of Najeh Davenport (209 yards, 3 touchdowns) will allow Willie Parker to stay fresh throughout the entire season. They will of course need Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu to get healthy. 3. Dallas Cowboys (16) Tony Romo had a miserable trap game in Buffalo, which should allow him to wakeup and recover before this week?s undefeated showdown against New England. 4. Indianapolis Colts (15) The Colts were as potent as ever on Sunday against a good Tampa Bay defense despite missing Joseph Addai and Marvin Harrison. 5. Washington Redskins (9) The Redskins clamped down the Lions? passing attack, sacking Jon Kitna to 106 yards and sacking him five times. 6. Green Bay Packers (6) The Packers? luck had to run out at some point, but there is no mistaking that they are a playoff team, especially because of their defense. 7. Tennessee Titans (6) The Titans? winning ways are due to their defense as much as Vince Young. Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch had seven tackles and a crucial 4th down sack of Byron Leftwich on Sunday. 8. Jacksonville Jaguars (6) Maurice Jones-Drew bounced back against Kansas City, rushing nine times for 82 yards and a touchdown. 9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4) The Buccaneers, running back shortage or not, should waltz into the playoffs in what is the weakest division in the NFL. 10. Houston Texans (3) The Texans are managing to stay over .500 despite injuries to Andre Johnson, Ahman Green and Jacoby Jones. 11. Philadelphia Eagles (3) The Eagles will regroup after their bye against the New York Jets. A healthy Brian Westbrook is really their only chance. 12. Seattle Seahawks (3) The Seahawks might be the class of the NFC West, but as evidenced by their loss to the Steelers in a Super Bowl rematch, they remain a few tiers below the true elite. 13. Minnesota Vikings (3) With Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor in the backfield, the Vikings will likely move Mewelde Moore. 14. Arizona Cardinals (2) The injury to Matt Leinart will probably not hurt the Cardinals much this season, but certainly will affect his learning curve. 15. San Diego Chargers (1) All of a sudden, things aren?t looking so dire for Norv Turner, A.J. Smith and the Chargers. 16. Oakland Raiders (1) Daunte Culpepper will be taking the snaps for the Raiders in what will be a big statement game at Qualcomm Stadium. 17. New York Giants (0) The Giants are heading to London after winning three straight games. 18. Carolina Panthers (0) The Panthers began the season surprisingly well, but with Jake Delhomme done for the season and David Carr hurt as well, things don?t look good for John Fox. 19. Baltimore Ravens (-2) The Ravens defense has been far more disappointing than most people expected. Terrell Suggs has just 20 tackles and no sacks. 20. Kansas City Chiefs (-4) The Kansas City defense has kept the team in ballgames while Larry Johnson (12 yards against Jacksonville) continues to struggle. 21. Cleveland Browns (-5) The Browns are a very difficult team to figure out, but the injury to Jamal Lewis should make winning ball games more difficult despite the official arrival of Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow, Jr. 22. Chicago Bears (-6) Brian Greise and the Bears pulled out the must-win road game in Green Bay behind turnovers by the defense. The return of the still-injurted Tommie Harris certainly helped. 23. Cincinnati Bengals (-6) Did the Bengals sign anyone to help out the defense during their bye week? 24. Atlanta Falcons (-6) The Falcons defense has been very good for first-year coach Bobby Petrino. 25. Detroit Lions (-8) The Lions? magic appears to be running on empty already, which means their bye-week could come at a better time. 26. San Francisco 49ers (-8) The 49ers are a loss or two away from writing off the 2007 season as another neutral step. 27. New York Jets (-8) Where would the Jets be without Leon Washington returning kicks? 28. Miami Dolphins (-9) The Dolphins have been bad despite Ronnie Brown?s emergence as one of the best backs in the NFL. 29. Buffalo Bills (-11) There is no better 1-4 team in the entire NFL than the Bills. They lost to the Broncos and Cowboys on walk-off field goals and also were defeated by the Steelers and Patriots, two of the best five teams in the NFL. 30. Denver Broncos (-12) Just as the Bills are a better than their record 1-4 team, the Broncos are a worse than 2-3 team. They narrowly beat the Raiders and Bills, while being embarrassed by the Chargers, Colts and Jaguars. The effort hasn?t been there for Mike Shanahan?s team and the inevitable loss of Travis Henry will make Jay Cutler?s sophomore season even tougher. 31. St. Louis Rams (-13) The Rams next winnable game is on October 28th at home versus Cleveland. Will the Rams and Saints both be without a win on November 11th? 32. New Orleans Saints (-17) The Saints have scored 51 points through four games this season. They scored at least 30 seven different times in 2006.
