The San Francisco 49ers have fired Steve Wilks as defensive coordinator.

Wilks was in his first season with the 49ers and the team finished with the fourth ranked defense in terms of DVOA. 

San Francisco's previous two defensive coordinators, Robert Saleh and DeMeco Ryans, left the organization for head coaching jobs.
