Boston College has hired Bill O'Brien as head coach.

O'Brien had recently left the New England Patriots to become offensive coordinator of Ohio State. But the Boston College job became available after Jeff Hafley departed to become defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers.

O'Brien grew up in the Boston area and his family planned on remaining there despite his move to Columbus to coach the Buckeyes.
