Roger Goodell is close to signing a new five-year extension that would keep him on as the NFL's commissioner through 2024.

The Sports Business Journal first reported the story, which ESPN confirmed.

Goodell's current contract expires in 2019.

Goodell, who has been the league's commissioner since Sept. 1, 2006, made nearly $32 million in fiscal year 2015.
