Jim Harbaugh and Jon Gruden have been linked to the Los Angeles Rams' newly created head coaching vacancy.

The Rams would likely need to pay either Harbaugh or Gruden a salary of more than $10 million per season, which Stan Kroenke has been unwilling to do so far in his ownership tenure. Kroenke was paying Jeff Fisher approximately $6.5 million per season.

In his second season at Michigan, Harbaugh is college football’s top-paid coach at $9 million a year.

It’s worth noting that Gruden and Kevin Demoff, the Rams’ top executive, worked together with the Buccaneers.

Josh McDaniels, Kyle Shanahan and Jim Mora could also emerge as candidates.
