Domestic violence charges against Greg Hardy have been dismissed by prosecutors after the accuser in the case couldn't be found.

Hardy's appeal in the case was set to begin Monday. But Mecklenburg County district attorney Andrew Murray told the judge that officials attempted many times to contact the woman, but failed.

Murray said Hardy had reached a civil suit agreement with the woman. Hardy and his attorney left the courthouse and did not answer questions.

Hardy was convicted last summer on assault on a female and communicating threats.

Hardy made $13.1 million last season despite playing in just one game before being placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List.

In the wake of the dropped charges, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport "(Hardy's) status remains unchanged until we fully review the matter."
