The Seattle Seahawks defeated Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos with a convincing 43-8 victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The frustration began for Manning on the first play of the game when Manny Ramirez snapped the ball into an end zone, resulting in a safety for the Seahawks.

Steven Hauschka kicked a pair of field goals to extend the lead to 8-0.

Manning subsequently threw an interception to Kam Chancellor to setup a Marshawn Lynch touchdown.

Another Manning interception resulted in a touchdown for Malcolm Smith, who was named Super Bowl MVP.

To start the second half, Percy Harvin returned an 87-yard kickoff return to essentially put the game out of reach with 30 minutes remaining in the game.

The city of Seattle hadn't won a championship since the Seattle Supersonics won the NBA Finals in 1979.
