The 49ers have a number of players in line for possible contract extensions and tight end Vernon Davis appears to be the top candidate.
"Davis is seeking to become the highest-paid tight end in the league at $8 million per season, NFL sources say. It's doubtful the 49ers will go that high," Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area writes.
"The 49ers have already given [linebacker Patrick] Willis a five-year, $50 million extension this offseason. With no collective bargaining agreement in place, it's a delicate situation for teams to sign players to long-term deals."
