Bears running back Adrian Peterson doesn't expect to be back with the team next season. He politely declined to discuss the situation in detail, but his role on offense has completely diminished in Chicago. Peterson's base salary is $750,000 this season and coach Lovie Smith says he hasn't given up on him. "Adrian has been a contributor on our team every year that I've been here," he said. "He's had different roles, being the No. 2 running back and the No. 3. He's the No. 3 running back now playing all special teams. "I don't know why he would feel that way. I would see why a guy would feel he's not in the plan if he's not getting time. But he's playing the same amount. We like the (Forte-Bell) combination we have now, but we like Adrian too."
