49ers safety Mark Roman has decided to play out his contract, which expires at the end of the 2009 season.
Roman sought a trade earlier in the offseason because San Francisco planned to promote second-year safety Dashon Goldson to play next to Michael Lewis in the secondary.
He has decided to stay in more of a nickel back-type role, with plans to test free agency in 2010.
