The Tennessee Titans elevated secondary coach Chuck Cecil to defensive coordinator, promoted Marcus Robertson to secondary coach and added Tim Hauck as assistant secondary coach. Cecil has coached eight seasons for the Titans, starting as a quality control coach (2001-03) and then coaching the safeties and nickel backs (2004-06) before becoming the secondary coach the last two seasons (2007-08). Under Cecil?s direction last year, three members of the Titans secondary (Cortland Finnegan, Chris Hope and Michael Griffin) earned Pro Bowl invitations and the unit collected 19 interceptions for the NFL?s seventh ranked defense. ?Chuck has seen this defense from a number of different perspectives and he is ready for this next step,? said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. ?I felt like continuity at this point was very important for our defense. Jim (Schwartz) and the defensive staff over the last several years have developed a very good system and I wanted to keep as many of those parts together as possible.?
