The Lions are expected to cut a number of veterans on Monday, but quarterback Daunte Culpepper may not be one of them.
Culpepper is due a $2.5 million roster bonus on Feb. 27 and that will trigger a $2.5 million salary for the upcoming season.
Tom Kowalski of MLive.com reported on Saturday that Detroit will not release Culpepper, although nothing has been confirmed.
