According to a report, the Saints want to pay Drew Brees as though he is a very good, but not great quarterback.
New Orleans general manager Mickey Loomis made the distinction between Brees being "very good" and "great" in a recent discussion about the status of the soon-to-be free agent's contract, according to three NFL sources.
The Saints and Brees are believed to be about $5 million a year apart on a new contract.
