Washington 24, Arizona 17 Team Trench Counter: Redskins +1.5, Cardinals -1.5 The Washington Redskins (2-1) scored in the fourth quarter to hand the Arizona Cardinals (2-1) their first loss of the young season. Jason Campbell went 22-for-30 with 193 yards and two touchdowns while Clinton Portis added 68 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Cornerback Carlos Rogers intercepted Kurt Warner early in the fourth quarter to put Washington in good field position to score the game-winning touchdown less than two minutes later. Warner was 16-for-30 with 192 yards, two touchdowns, and the one interception. Edgerrin James rushed for 93 yards in the loss while wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin continued to compile impressive statistics. Fitzgerald caught seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown and Boldin added 25 yards and a score of his own. Santana Moss starred for the Redskins? offense with seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. Game FIC Scores - Jason Campbell, WSH: 60 - Kurt Warner, ARI: 42 - Clinton Portis, WSH: 35 - Edgerrin James, ARI: 39 - Anquan Boldin, ARI: 24 - Larry Fitzgerald, ARI: 71 - Santana Moss, ARI: 52 Tennessee 31, Houston 12 Team Trench Counter: Titans +0.1, Texans -0.1 The Tennessee Titans (3-0) held a nine-point lead going into halftime against the Houston Texans (0-2) and held on with tough defense in the second half to keep their strong start going. Kerry Collins played within himself, going 14-for-26 with 189 yards, one touchdown, and an interception while LenDale White and Chris Johnson controlled the running game. The two combined for 123 yards and White added two touchdowns in the victory. Tennessee ate up Houston?s Matt Schaub, grabbing three interceptions, recording three sacks, and forcing a pair of fumbles. Schaub finished the day 17-for-37 with 188 yards and no touchdowns. Rookie Steve Slaton starred for the Texans, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Titans put the game away with a little more than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter when Cortland Finnegan returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown. Game FIC Scores - Kerry Collins, TEN: 52 - Matt Schaub, HOU: 27 - Chris Johnson, TEN: 29 - Steve Slaton, HOU: 57 N.Y. Giants 26, Cincinnati 23 (OT) Team Trench Counter: Giants +4.3, Bengals -4.3 The New York Giants (3-0) needed overtime to do so, but they continued their September tear with an overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals (0-3) on Sunday. Eli Manning was 26-for-43 with 289 yards and a touchdown, but the Giants were just 5-for-12 on third down against the Bengals. Derrick Ward and Brandon Jacobs combined for 115 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Kevin Boss caught three passes for 51 yards and a touchdown. Carson Palmer was sacked by New York six times but managed to finish the afternoon 27-for-39 with 286 yards and a touchdown. T.J. Houshmandzadeh benefited from Palmer?s good decision-making, catching twelve passes for 146 yards and a score. Chris Perry ran twenty times for 74 yards and a touchdown of his own. The Giants took the lead on a 4-yard pass from Manning to Boss with 1:50 left in regulation, but the Bengals forced overtime on a 21-yard field goal by Shayne Graham as time expired. New York then won the game on a 22-yard field goal by John Carney at the 8:39 mark of the overtime period. Game FIC Scores - Eli Manning, NYG: 59 - Carson Palmer, CIN: 67 - Brandon Jacobs, NYG: 12 - Derrick Ward, NYG: 52 - Amani Toomer, NYG: 39 - TJ Houshmandzadeh, CIN: 97 - Plaxico Burress, NYG: 28 Miami 38, New England 13 Team Trench Counter: Dolphins +26.6, Patriots -26.6 The Miami Dolphins (1-2) handed the New England Patriots (2-1) their first regular season loss since 2006 on Sunday with an empathic win at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Ronnie Brown accounted for all five of Miami?s touchdowns in the victory, rushing for 113 yards and four scores and throwing one pass, a 19-yard strike to Anthony Fasano for another score. The Dolphins? defense also sacked Matt Cassel four times, three by linebacker Joey Porter, and grabbed an interception. Cassel went 19-for-31 in the loss with 131 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Rookie Kevin O?Connell went 3-for-4 with 25 yards in garbage duty at the end of the game. The Patriots managed just 216 total net yards against the Dolphins and failed to disrupt Miami?s offense. In addition to Brown?s dominance on the ground, Ricky Williams added 98 rushing yards and Chad Pennington went 17-for-20 with 226 yards in the victory. Game FIC Scores - Chad Pennington, MIA: 47 - Matt Cassel, NE: 26 - Ronnie Brown, MIA: 77 - Randy Moss, NE: 18 - Wes Welker, NE: 35 Minnesota 20, Carolina 10 Team Trench Counter: Vikings +5.7, Panthers -5.7 The Minnesota Vikings (1-2) earned their first win of the season while handing the Carolina Panthers (2-1) their first defeat of 2008. Gus Frerotte, who replaced Tarvaris Jackson as Minnesota?s starting quarterback this week, went 16-for-28 with 204 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Adrian Peterson ran for 77 yards on just seventeen attempts, and the Vikings' defense dominated on their way to victory. Minnesota had five sacks and a pair of forced fumbles, including a 19-yard fumble recovery by Antoine Winfield that was returned for a touchdown in the third quarter. Jake Delhomme went 17-for-29 with 191 yards in the loss while the Vikings kept the Panthers? running game from getting going all afternoon long. DeAngelo Williams and rookie Jonathan Stewart had just 42 yards between them in the loss. Steve Smith, returning from suspension, caught four passes for 70 yards. Game FIC Scores - Gus Frerotte, MIN: 34 - Jake Delhomme, CAR: 28 - Adrian Peterson, MIN: 26 - Jonathan Stewart, CAR: 7 - Steve Smith, CAR: 43 Tampa Bay 27, Chicago 24 (OT) Team Trench Counter: Buccaneers -6.7, Bears +6.7 The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) battled back with ten points late in the fourth quarter to force overtime and defeat the Chicago Bears (1-2). Brian Griese went 38-for-67 with 407 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Warrick Dunn and Earnest Graham, 47 combined yards, had trouble against Chicago?s defense, forcing Jon Gruden to call for almost seventy passing attempts by Griese. Antonio Bryant caught ten passes for 138 yards in the win. Kyle Orton went 22-for-34 with 268 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the loss, having one of his miscues returned 45 yards by Gaines Adams in the second quarter for a score. Rookie Matt Forte rushed for 89 yards and caught seven passes for 66 yards and a touchdown as he continues to excel in the NFL. Matt Bryant hit a 35-yard field goal with a little more than three minutes left in regulation to bring Tampa Bay within seven points. With the ball back, Griese then found Jerramy Stevens on a 1-yard pass to tie the score with less than ten seconds remaining. Bryant won the game for the Buccaneers with a 21-yard field goal with a little more than four minutes left in the overtime period. Buffalo trailed 16-7 heading into the final fifteen minutes but scored a pair of touchdowns and a field goal over an eight-minute stretch. Trent Edwards was 24-for-39 with 279 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Marshawn Lynch added 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Bills in the win. JaMarcus Russell completed nine-of-nineteen passes for 156 yards and a touchdown and added a 1-yard touchdown of his own on the ground. Michael Bush and Darren McFadden tallied 97 rushing yards, but the Oakland defense couldn?t keep the Bills from lighting up the scoreboard in the final period. Lynch scored a 3-yard touchdown to end a 96-yard drive (8:55 minutes), and then after Russell connected with Johnnie Lee Higgins on an 84-yard pass, Roscoe Parrish found the end zone to bring the Bills to within two points. Rian Lindell hit a 38-yard field goal as time expired to preserve Buffalo?s perfect record. Game FIC Scores - Trent Edwards, BUF: 58 - JaMarcus Russell, OAK: 34 - Marshawn Lynch, BUF: 57 - Darren McFadden, OAK: 16 Atlanta 38, Kansas City 14 Team Trench Counter: Falcons +17.6, Chiefs -17.6 Michael Turner lit up the Kansas City Chiefs (0-3) on Sunday as the Atlanta Falcons (2-1) cruised to their second win of the season. Turner rushed twenty-three times for 104 yards and three touchdowns while rookie Matt Ryan went 12-for-18 with 192 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons jumped out to a 24-0 lead and never looked back against the struggling Chiefs. Roddy White, who caught a 70-yard touchdown bomb from Ryan, had five catches for 119 yards in the win. Tyler Thigpen, starting at quarterback with both Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard injured, went 14-for-36 with just 128 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Dwayne Bowe had four catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, but Larry Johnson was the only real offensive star for Kansas City in the loss. Johnson had 121 yards and a touchdown, including a 48-yard run that helped put the Chiefs in great field position in the third quarter. Ryan went untouched as the Falcons? offensive-line kept the Chiefs away from the young quarterback. Game FIC Scores - Matt Ryan, ATL: 48 - Tyler Thigpen, KC: 29 - Michael Turner, ATL: 50 - Jerious Norwood, ATL: 45 - Dwayne Bowe, KC: 32 Seattle 37, St. Louis 13 Team Trench Counter: Seahawks +17.3, Rams -17.3 Like the two teams that came before them, the Seattle Seahawks (1-2) feasted on the weak defense of the St. Louis Rams (0-3) on Sunday on the way to their first win of the season. Matt Hasselbeck went 12-for-20 with 172 yards and a touchdown while Seattle?s runners dominated on the ground. Julius Jones had 140 yards and a score while T.J. Duckett added 79 yards and two touchdowns of his own. The Seahawks? defense held the Rams in check, with a sack, an interception and a forced fumble. Marc Bulger went 18-for-31 in the loss with 184 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Steven Jackson, who was promised more carries heading into Week Three, ran for 66 yards on twenty-three carries. Jackson also led the Rams with 62 receiving yards. St. Louis managed just 240 total net yards while the Seahawks accumulated 407 yards in the win. Game FIC Scores - Matt Hasselbeck, SEA: 46 - Marc Bulger, STL: 37 - Julius Jones, SEA: 61 - Steven Jackson, STL: 47 San Francisco 31, Detroit 13 Team Trench Counter: 49ers +19.8, Lions -19.8 The San Francisco 49ers (2-1) were fired up by coordinator Mike Martz on Sunday in their drubbing of the Detroit Lions (0-3), his former team. J.T. O?Sullivan went 16-for-23 with 189 yards and two touchdowns while Frank Gore added 130 rushing yards and a score for the 49ers in the victory. San Francisco jumped out to a 21-3 lead at the half and never looked back at Candlestick Park. Jon Kitna was 15-for-30 with 146 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in the loss. Rudi Johnson had his best game as a Lion, rushing for 83 yards on fourteen carries. He also caught three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown, Detroit?s only trip to the end zone of the game. Defensive end Justin Smith tallied a sack, an interception, and a forced fumble in the victory for San Francisco, who tied Arizona for first place in the NFC West with the win. Game FIC Scores - J.T. O'Sullivan, SF: 57 - Jon Kitna, DET: 34 - Frank Gore, SF: 71 - Rudi Johnson, DET: 55 - Calvin Johnson, DET: 26 Denver 34, New Orleans 32 Team Trench Counter: Broncos -2.7, Saints +2.7 The Denver Broncos (3-0) narrowly edged the New Orleans Saints (1-2) on Sunday, thanks to a missed 43-yard field goal by Martin Gramatica with two minutes left in regulation. Jay Cutler went 21-for-34 with two touchdowns and an interception in the win while Selvin Young added 65 yards on the ground. Brandon Marshall, in the midst of legal woes, had 155 receiving yards and a score on six catches for Denver. Drew Brees was 39-for-48 with 421 yards and a touchdown while Reggie Bush had 148 total yards and two touchdowns for the Saints in defeat. Pierre Thomas, who had just 15 yards on six carries, reached the end zone twice. The Broncos took a 21-3 lead early in the second quarter thanks to a 34-yard fumble return by linebacker Nate Webster. New Orleans then rallied to score sixteen of the next nineteen points to trim Denver?s lead to 24-19. The Broncos added ten points in the third quarter on a run by Michael Pittman and a field goal by Matt Prater to put the game away. Game FIC Scores - Jay Cutler, DEN: 62 - Drew Brees, NO: 90 - Reggie Bush, NO: 83 - Selvin Young, DEN: 29 - Brandon Marshall, DEN: 95 Philadelphia 15, Pittsburgh 9 Team Trench Counter: Eagles +1.5, Steelers -1.5 The Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) endured injuries to both Donovan McNabb (chest) and Brian Westbrook (right leg) in a hard-fought win over the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1). McNabb went 24-for-35 with 196 yards, one touchdown, and an interception while leaving the game briefly because of injury. Westbrook left with an undisclosed right leg injury after rushing just five times for 12 yards. The Philadelphia defense tallied eight sacks, an interception, and two forced fumbles while holding the explosive Steelers to just six points. Ben Roethlisberger, who left in the fourth quarter after taking a beating, was 13-for-25 with 131 yards and an interception. Byron Leftwich took over late, going 4-for-7 with 60 yards. The Steelers managed just 33 rushing yards, with Willie Parker being held to 20 yards on 13 attempts. The Pittsburgh defense had three sacks and two interceptions, including one of Kevin Kolb, who threw just three passes while McNabb recovered on the sideline. Correll Buckhalter had 87 total yards and a touchdown as he filled in for Westbrook. Game FIC Scores - Donovan McNabb, PHI: 40 - Ben Roethlisberger, PIT: 14 - Brian Westbrook, PHI: 2 - Willie Parker, PIT: 3 - Correll Buckhalter, PHI: 54 - DeSean Jackson, PHI: 27 Jacksonville 23, Indianapolis 21 Team Trench Counter: Jaguars +3.2, Colts -3.2 The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against the Indianapolis Colts (1-2) as David Garrard led the offense down the field for a game-winning field goal. Garrard went 16-for-22 with 167 yards and an interception in the victory, but Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew dominated on the ground. Taylor had 121 yards, and Jones-Drew added 107 yards and a touchdown as Jacksonville controlled the clock for a majority of the second half. Peyton Manning was hounded by the Jaguars' defense, who harried him all game long and intercepted him twice. Manning was 15-for-29 with 216 yards, one touchdown, and the aforementioned pair of picks. Joseph Addai rushed for 78 yards and had two touchdowns, but the Colts' defense couldn?t keep Jacksonville from winning the game in the final seconds. Addai scored with 1:07 left in the game to give Indianapolis a 21-20 lead. However, Josh Scobee hit a 51-yard field goal with four seconds left to give the Jaguars their first win of the season. Game FIC Scores - Peyton Manning, IND: 44 - David Garrard, JAX: 38 - Joseph Addai, IND: 46 - Maurice Jones-Drew, JAX: 88 - Reggie Wayne, IND: 43 Baltimore 28, Cleveland 10 Team Trench Counter: Ravens +14.6, Browns -14.6 Joe Flacco struggled against the Cleveland Browns (0-3) but still led the Baltimore Ravens (2-0) to their second-consecutive victory of the season. Flacco went 13-for-19 with 129 yards and two interceptions, but Le?Ron McClain and Willis McGahee combined for 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the victory. The Baltimore defense led to easy offense as they sacked Derek Anderson four times and intercepted him on three different occasions. Anderson was 14-for-37 with 125 yards, one touchdown, and the three miscues. Jamal Lewis rushed twelve times for 56 yards, as the Browns struggled to get their offense going against Baltimore?s stiff defense. Cleveland led 10-7 heading into the third quarter, when the Ravens exploded for 21 points to take the lead for good. Safety Ed Reed added to the fun, bringing an interception back 32 yards for a score in between touchdowns by fullback McClain. Game FIC Scores - Joe Flacco, BAL: 17 - Derek Anderson, CLE: 15 - Willis McGahee, BAL: 34 - Jamal Lewis, CLE: 32 - Braylon Edwards, CLE: 19 Dallas 27, Green Bay 16 Team Trench Counter: Cowboys +8.2, Packers -8.2 The Dallas Cowboys (3-0) defeated the Green Bay Packers (2-1) in a rare win at Lambeau Field on Sunday night. Tony Romo struggled early on, fumbling the football but finished 17-for-30 with 260 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Marion Barber and Felix Jones carved up the Green Bay run defense, combining for 218 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Terrell Owens had just two catches for 17 yards, as Miles Austin led Dallas with two catches for 115 receiving yards and a trip to the end zone. The Cowboys recorded five sacks limiting Aaron Rodgers, who was red-hot entering the game, to 22-for-39 passing with 290 yards in the loss. Rodgers did, however, rush five times for ten yards, including a 1-yard score late in the fourth quarter. Ryan Grant had 54 yards for the Packers while Greg Jennings had eight catches for 115 yards at home. Barber fumbled with Dallas knocking on the door with less than four minutes left, allowing Rodgers to march Green Bay down the field for their first touchdown of the game. However, it was a case of ?too little, too late? for the Packers. Game FIC Scores - Tony Romo, DAL: 45 - Aaron Rodgers, GB: 52 - Marion Barber, DAL: 59 - Felix Jones, DAL: 42 - Greg Jennings, GB: 71 - Miles Austin, DAL: 67 - Jason Witten, DAL: 50 - Terrell Owens, DAL: 12 San Diego 49, N.Y. Jets 29 Team Trench Counter: Chargers 12.2, Jets -12.2 The San Diego Chargers (1-2) earned their first win of the season on Monday night when they defeated the New York Jets (1-2). Philip Rivers, who threw an early interception that New York's David Barrett returned for a touchdown, finished 19-for-25 with 250 yards, three touchdowns and the miscue. LaDainian Tomlinson, who was listed as questionable with a toe injury heading into the game, ran twenty-six times for 67 yards and two scores in the win. Trailing for a majority of the game, the Jets were forced to throw the ball often. Brett Favre went 30-for-42 with 271 yards, three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. San Diego's Antonio Cromartie returned one of the picks 52 yards in the second quarter for a touchdown. Cromartie intercepted Kellen Clemens, playing in garbage duty, late in the game to cap off the night. Thomas Jones had just 37 yards on ten carries in the loss. Leon Washington was the lone bright spot for the Jets, returning five kickoffs for an average of 39.6 yards.
