The Green Bay Packers have ended any speculation that Brett Favre could come out of retirement next season after placing him on the team's reserve-retired list, according to ESPN.com. General Manager Ted Thompson said that the move was strictly "procedural in nature" as the quarterback no longer counts towards Green Bay's 80-man roster. "Both [coach] Mike McCarthy and I have spoken to Brett over the past several days," Thompson said in a statement. "Brett knew this change in his roster status was coming, and he fully understood our need to make the move in advance of the NFL draft."
