Pittsburgh 41, St. Louis 24 The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the St. Louis Rams 41-24 on Thursday, assuring a playoff berth, but lost running back Willie Parker to a broken leg in the first quarter. Najeh Davenport did a terrific job stepping in for Parker, who led the NFL in rushing entering Week Sixteen. Davenport rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown against the Rams, and Ben Roethlisberger went 16-for-20 with 261 yards and three touchdown strikes. Marc Bulger was 18-for-35 with 208 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in defeat. Steven Jackson added 85 yards on the ground. Fantasy Star: Najeh Davenport, PIT: 167 total yards and two touchdowns. Dallas 20, Carolina 13 The Dallas Cowboys avoided their first losing streak of the season with a 20-13 victory over the hapless Carolina Panthers on Saturday night. Tony Romo, playing with an injured thumb, went 28-for-42 with 257 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Marion Barber balanced the Cowboys? attack, rushing for 110 yards and a score. The win may prove costly to the Cowboys, though, who have locked up the NFC?s top seed as Terrell Owens suffered a high-ankle sprain in the second quarter of the team?s victory. It appears as though T.O. will be able to play when Dallas begins their playoff push in two weeks. Steve Smith led the Panthers with 137 receiving yards and a touchdown. Philadelphia 38, New Orleans 23 The Philadelphia Eagles played spoiler, severely hurting the New Orleans Saints? playoff hopes with a 38-23 victory at the Superdome. In the process, Donovan McNabb went 24-for-35 with 263 yards and three touchdowns, embarrassing Drew Brees, who was 30-for-45 with 289 yards and an interception. Brian Westbrook ran for 100 yards, and McNabb added 37 yards on the ground, as well. Aaron Stecker rushed 13 times for 49 yards and reached the end zone twice. The Eagles? playoff hopes ended last week, but McNabb may be playing for his future in Philadelphia. Minnesota?s loss to the Redskins on Sunday night kept the Saints in the playoff picture. Jacksonville 49, Oakland 11 The Jaguars dismantled the Raiders on their way to locking up the AFC?s number one Wild Card spot. Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew combined for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and David Garrard and Quinn Gray tossed two touchdowns apiece in the victory. JaMarcus Russell played extensively for the Raiders but struggled mightily. Russell went 7-for-23 with 83 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Dominic Rhodes rushed 27 times for 115 yards, almost double what he had accumulated thus far in 2007. The Jaguars will face either the Pittsburgh Steelers or San Diego Chargers in the first-round of the playoffs. Fantasy Star: Fred Taylor, JAX: 111 rushing yards and one touchdown. Cincinnati 19, Cleveland 14 Looking to secure a playoff berth with a win this weekend the Cleveland Browns stumbled against the Cincinnati Bengals, leaving their playoff fate up in the air. Kenny Watson led the Bengals with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown as Carson Palmer went 11-for-21 with 115 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Derek Anderson struggled, going 29-for-48 with 251 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. Despite their loss, the Browns still have a shot at making the playoffs but will need to win and cross their fingers for Tennessee Titans? loss. Fantasy Star: Kenny Watson, CIN: 130 rushing yards and one touchdown. Detroit 25, Kansas City 20 The Lions may no longer be in the playoff picture, but they avoided embarrassment on Sunday, ensuring that they won?t finish the season with eight consecutive losses after beating the Chiefs 25-20. Detroit, who started the season 6-2, had lost six straight games before meeting Kansas City this weekend. T.J. Duckett rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown in the win offsetting the continued struggles of Jon Kitna, who was 9-for-16 with 115 passing yards and an interception. Damon Huard, who replaced Brodie Croyle after an injury while making a tackle on an interception return, went 24-for-36 with 305 yards and two touchdowns. Fantasy Star: Tony Gonzalez, KC: 137 receiving yards. Chicago 35, Green Bay 7 The Green Bay Packers lost their bid to become the NFC?s top overall seed after losing to the Chicago Bears 35-7 on Sunday. Adrian Peterson led the Bears with 102 rushing yards and a touchdown, but the Chicago defense handled most of the scoring. Brian Urlacher returned an interception for a touchdown, and Corey Graham returned a punt seven yards for another score. Two of Green Bay?s three losses this season have come at the hands of their division rival. Brett Favre struggled in the loss, going 17-for-32 with 153 yards and two interceptions. Ryan Grant notched his fifth 100-yard game of the season, cementing his status of the Packers? running back of choice. Fantasy Star: Chicago DEF: One sack, two interceptions and two touchdowns. N.Y. Giants 38, Buffalo 21 The New York Giants might be struggling, but their win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday clinched the NFC?s top Wild Card spot. Eli Manning is still stuck in a slump, going 7-for-15 with 111 yards and two interceptions, but the Giants? running game picked up the pieces. Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs combined for 296 yards and three touchdowns. Trent Edwards went 9-for-26 for 161 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the loss. New York?s defense dominated after a rough first quarter, notching three sacks, interceptions and fumbles at Ralph Wilson Stadium. If things remain as is in the NFC playoff bracket, the Giants would battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the NFC playoffs. Indianapolis 38, Houston 15 Looking to tune up their offense before the postseason, the Indianapolis Colts ran roughshod over the Houston Texans after falling behind 7-0. Peyton Manning went 28-for-35 with 311 yards and three touchdowns against Houston, and Joseph Addai added 26 yards and a score on just six carries. Sage Rosenfels was 22-for-36 with 233 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the loss. Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark combined for 203 receiving yards and three touchdowns at the RCA Dome as Clark broke a pair of Colts? tight end receiving records. San Francisco 21, Tampa Bay 19 San Francisco won their second-straight game for the first time since the opening two weeks of the season, as Shaun Hill led the 49ers over the playoff-bound Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hill was 11-for-24 with 123 yards and three touchdowns, with the 49ers? defense giving Hill and the offense good field position on several occasions. Frank Gore tallied 132 total yards and a touchdown against the Bucs, who have fallen behind the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC?s third seed. Jeff Garcia and Josh McCown, who took over for Garcia midway through the game, combined for 381 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Fantasy Star: Jerramy Stevens, TB: 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Arizona 30, Atlanta 27 Neither team had much to play for, but the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons fought hard for their pride on Sunday. Kurt Warner led the Cardinals to an overtime victory over the Falcons with 361 yards and three touchdown passes. Chris Redman played well for the Falcons, going 28-for-42 with 315 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Edgerrin James was the game?s leading rusher, with 76 yards, as both teams struggled on the ground. Warner hooked with Anquan Boldin 13 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns, while Roddy White connected with Redman 12 times for 141 receiving yards. Neil Rackers kicked the game-winning field goal on the Cardinals? opening overtime drive. Fantasy Star: Anquan Boldin, ARI: 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Tennessee 10, N.Y. Jets 6 The Tennessee Titans kept their playoffs hopes alive with a hard-fought victory over the feisty New York Jets. LenDale White rushed for 103 yards to lead Tennessee, and Chris Brown punched in a four-yard score to give the Titans all the offense they needed. Chad Pennington played well for New York, notching 264 passing yards, a touchdown and two interceptions against the very tough Titans? defense. Tennessee now controls their own fate. A win over Indianapolis in the season finale would secure the AFC?s final playoff spot and give them their first winning record since 2003. Seattle 27, Baltimore 6 The Seattle Seahawks overtook the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the NFC?s third seed after disposing of the Baltimore Ravens 27-6 this weekend. Matt Hasselbeck went 18-for-27 with 199 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Troy Smith, last year?s Heisman trophy winner, made his first professional start against Seattle. He was 16-for-33 with 199 yards and a score, a 79-yard strike to Derrick Mason. Baltimore lost Willis McGahee a few minutes into the game with a rib injury; it?s unlikely that he?ll play this coming weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers. New England 28, Miami 7 The New England Patriots are one win away from a perfect season, after rolling over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Tom Brady went 18-for-33 with 215 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against the Dolphins. He?ll need two touchdown passes in the season finale against the New York Giants to surpass Peyton Manning for the single-season touchdown record (49). Laurence Maroney enjoyed his best performance of the season, rushing for 156 yards and one touchdown. Cleo Lemon kept his mistakes to a minimum but wasn?t very accurate. He finished the day 18-for-41 with 171 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy Star: Randy Moss, NE: 50 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Washington 32, Minnesota 21 This game had playoff implications written all over it. The Redskins' 32-21 win over the Vikings allowed them to leapfrog Minnesota for the NFC?s final Wild Card berth with one week left in the regular season. Todd Collins went 22-for-29 with 254 yards and two touchdowns. Clinton Portis added 76 yards and a score on the ground. Tarvaris Jackson contributed 220 passing yards, a touchdown and two interceptions and added 44 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. Washington now controls their playoff destiny. A win against the Cowboys this weekend would send the Redskins to the postseason. In order to make the playoffs, the Vikings need to win and hope for a Redskins? loss.
